Happy Birthday Pop!

My Dad, Mike Marton……….

Dad (Michael Marton) was born on 18 December 1919. Earlier that year Teddy Roosevelt died in his sleep, the Treaty of Versailles was signed, ending  WWI. Dad was born in Futok, a small town along the Danube, in the Batchka region of then Austro-Hungary. He learned to work with wood, along side a master woodworker. Not a cabinet maker but a wood turner, turning wood into art. Dad was a hands on guy, tough as nails in his youth. I’m telling you, the guy could drive nails with his hands. Immigrating with his wife and three kids in 1956 to the US. Dad loved his adopted country. He built a life second to none. We went fishing together a lot. Dad was my Best Man back in ’96 when Mel and I were married. I Miss You Pop!.

This was a nice tribute to an obviously tough but sweet man. Great that he was your best man.
